AYSO Season Opens with Little Fanfare

91

Kids and teens booted soccer balls at fields all over South Pasadena as the AYSO season opened last weekend. Organizers decided not to hold opening day ceremonies traditionally held at either South Pasadena High or San Marino High and instead roll right into season play. Games are played   locally at South Pasadena High, Orange Grove Park and Arroyo Seco Park. Above, goalie Nate Tepper kicks the ball away during a local game last weekend.

  1. Do we know the reason giving for such a low key kickoff? I’ve always thought that our local AYSO opening ceremony and the banner contest was a very special part of the whole soccer experience here in South Pasadena, especially the homemade aspect of it. I think it’s a shame to do away with it and hope they consider bringing it back.
