Hearing a loud crash before daylight, Ed Amido was awakened early Sunday morning by what he thought was an earthquake.
Going outside his home, alongside his wife, the couple found an overturned late model white Lexus that had smashed into their parked car on the steepest portion of Indiana Drive in South Pasadena. “We ran outside and saw a beautiful car flipped over,” said Amido, who lives in the 1300 block of the hill street. The vehicle banged into his Volvo SUV, leaving dents on the side.
Remarkably, the Lexus did its damage going southbound, moving at an unspecified speed uphill. Local police and fire department officials were at the scene investigating the case following the accident at 3:50 a.m., 45 minutes before a tow truck arrived to pull the wreckage from the narrow roadway.
“For whatever reason the Lexus lost control and clipped a park car and came to rest on its roof,” explained Matt Ronnie, a sergeant with the South Pasadena Police Department. “No one was injured and we’re currently investigating a possible DUI.”
The driver of the Lexus was transported to the South Pasadena Police Station for questioning.
