City Float Takes a Test Drive Along Fair Oaks Avenue

South Pasadena Tournament of Roses officials took the city’s float – “Never Give Up” – out for a test run along Fair Oaks Avenue early Sunday morning in anticipation to the upcoming Rose Parade. Under the guidance of the Tournament of Roses, the float must pass a number of tests prior to going down Colorado Boulevard for the annual event that attracts thousands along the parade route and millions more watching around the world. Prior to taking the float out on the street, a team of TOR mechanics carefully inspected South Pasadena’s float that will be part of the 128th Rose Parade, scheduled for Monday, January 2. Since January 1 falls on a Sunday, and the TOR has a Never on Sunday Rule, the parade will be held on January 2, starting at 8 a.m.
