THE POWER OF THREE, the South Pasadena Educational Foundation (SPEF), the SPHS Booster Club, and the South Pasadena Unified School District (SPUSD) worked together to have the old, wooden stadium bleachers at South Pasadena High School replaced with new aluminum seating over the summer.
With $15,000 from Parti Gras’s Paddle Raise and $11,000 each from SPEF’s Major Grant fund, the SPHS Boosters, and SPUSD, workers were able to fully replace the seats before the start of the 2016-2017 school year. “Thank you to everyone who has donated to SPEF and Boosters.” said SPEF Director Stacey Petersen. “Without you, this would not have happened,”
Some of those celebrating the bleacher project, top left, on Monday included: Geoff Yantz, SPUSD superintendent; Janet Anderson, SPHS principal; Dean Serwin, 2014-2016 SPEF major grant VP; Katie Clark, executive VP of ways and means; SPHS Boosters; Dave Lubs, assistant superintendent of business services; Scott Moe, SPEF president; Stacey Petersen, SPEF director; Amy Reynolds, 2014-2016 SPEF Parti Gras Chair, and Tim Mawhinney, SPUSD director of facilities and maintenance.
