Co-chairs of Parti Gras, Kathleen Michael and Larry Abelson, announced the theme for next year’s big event during the South Pasadena Educational Foundation’s Major Donor Party at Communal Food and Drink in the 1000 block of El Centro Street last Friday night. Dressed for the part, Michael and Abelson told the large gathering that Parti Gras will have a vintage carnival theme during the huge fundraiser on May 20, 2017 at Arroyo Seco Golf Course. The event will include food from participating restaurants, dancing, silent and live auctions. Added to the fun, giving it real carnival feel, organizers say a Ferris wheel, games, a big top and maybe a sword swallower will be thrown into the mix. SPEF President Scott Moe thanked local school board and City Council members, along with school district administrators for attending Friday’s event before handing the microphone over to Abelson and Michael for the Parti Gras theme announcement. “I want to thank everyone here who is a major donor,” said Moe. “Thank you so much for participating and being part of the SPEF family. We really can’t do what we do for the district without you.” You’ll find pictures of guests at the Major Donor Party when you to SouthPasadenaReview.com, and next week in our November 30 issue.
