Photos by Henk Friezer Kai Dettman, the Tigers star athlete and team captain, once again stood out as he won the mile in a personal best of 4:25. He also won the 800 meters in convincing fashion that has become his trademark. Kai Dettman is congratulated by Mike Parkinson, who still holds the school mile record at 4:08. Parkinson is a former So Pas head track coach and returned as an SPHS assistant distance coach on the 2019 staff. His son, Andrew, is a rising star in the distance events and high jump, and was recently moved up to the varsity. Johann Li in the long jump.
