South Pasadena High School juniors Nolan Call, Matthew Miller and Radja Putro, along with sophomore TJ Chang and freshman George Hong Sheng (left to right) were selected recently by the The Southern California Vocal Association to perform with SCVA High School Honor Choirs.

The students’ audition was rigorous, including a performance of an Italian aria, musical scales and assessments of sight reading and tonal memory.

The honor choirs bring together the finest high-school singers from the Los Angeles County region to perform under the direction of nationally and internationally known conductors. Some 600 students audition and 270 are selected for three choirs – mixed, TTBB (two tenors, baritone and bass) and SSAA (two sopranos and two altos).
