South Pasadena Float Wins Rose Parade Award

Every year, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses recognizes the excellence in a variety of categories and specifications within the many float entries. This year, South Pasadena’s entry “Fishing Follies” took the “Best Depiction of Life in the U.S.A., Past, Present or Future” award in the National category. In the 2016 Rose Parade, “Find Your Adventure”, of the 44 float entries, 24 were awarded the official honors based on criteria such as creative design, floral craftsmanship, artistic merit, computerized animation, thematic interpretation, floral and color presentation and dramatic impact.

South Pasadena’s float, the oldest of a handful of self-built floats, has participated in the Rose Parade for over 120 years and last won an award in 2013 with the “Sailing the Sea of Knowledge” entry in the Tournament of Roses Parade themed “Oh the Places You’ll Go”.
