South Pasadena Police Department Set to Offer Women’s Self-Defense Classes

The South Pasadena Police Department is presenting a series of women’s self-defense classes in the upcoming months.

In the free class, participants will learn how to defend themselves and escape from dangerous situations. Instruction will include situational awareness, how to properly hit and kick, how to escape common holds, and how to fight while on the ground.

The classes are open to women 18 years and older who are residents of South Pasadena.

It is a hands-on and physical course, so athletic attire is required. Although it’s not required, sparring and training gloves are recommended.

2017 Schedule of Classes:

February 25, May 13, August 19 and November 4. All classes are held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the War Memorial Building, 435 Fair Oaks Avenue, in the city.
