Tickets for the second annual South Pasadena Prayer Breakfast, being held on February 21, are now on sale for $25 each.
The breakfast will feature earthquake expert, Dr. Lucy Jones of Caltech, known to many Southern Californians as our very own earthquake guru. She is the founder of the Dr. Lucy Jones Center for Science and Society, with a mission to foster the understanding and application of scientific information in the creation of more resilient communities. She is not only the premier earthquake expert in the US, but is also passionate about planning for recovery beyond disaster events, and will address the breakfast about the need for building social capital in our community.
The breakfast is rotated around to community churches and this year the 7 a.m. event will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church. The event is funded entirely by private donations and ticket sales. The first annual breakfast in 2016 focused on disaster preparedness and raised more than $6,000 that was donated to three local programs that help community members in time of need.
Sponsors are being sought for the breakfast. Visit www.sopasprayerbreakfast.org to learn more about becoming a sponsor, and to purchase tickets, which cost $25 each.
