Vanessa Marquez Remembered at Memorial

It was a somber and reflective evening Friday as friends, co-workers and South Pasadena residents gathered outside the former Fremont Avenue residence of Vanessa Marquez on the one-year anniversary of her death in an officer-involved shooting.

A crowd of media outlets clustered together on the sidewalk as flowers and petals were arranged around a nearby city tree.

Los Angeles resident Minerva Garcia remembered her friend as a beacon of positive light and pressed for answers into the investigation of the shooting.
