The streets of South Pasadena will be alive with the sounds of music at the 10th Annual Eclectic Music Festival & Art Walk Saturday, April 28, from 3 – 10 p.m. Visitors will be treated to more than 60 diverse musical acts across 15 stages.

There will also be interactive art activities, an Artisans’ Alley – a curated marketplace offering unique vintage and hand-crafted items, wine and beer gardens, food trucks and vendors, as well as many merchants with special events and activities for the entire family.

This year, the event is coming to Mission Street, which will be closed to vehicles between Meridian and Fremont Avenues for the first time ever. Guests will be in the heart of the business district and can enjoy the Eclectic events and all the stores, boutiques and eateries in town.

Get ready to swing  Saturday as Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling Big Bad Voodoo Daddy headlines the Eclectic. BBVD, the incomparable kings of swing, first came to prominence in the ’90s as one of the main progenitors of the neo-swing revival. The band performed at the Super Bowl XXXIII half-time show and also appeared on the Grammy Awards telecast in 2014. Their latest album, Louie! Louie! Louie! is an electrifying celebration of jazz legends Louie Armstrong, Louie Jordan and Louie Prima.

The Eclectic Stage kicks off the festival with the West Coast Americana sounds of Little Silver Hearts, one of the most expressive bands on the road today. LSH will be followed by South Pasadena Transit Authority, the local Chicago cover band that has been playing the event since it was founded.

Also performing on the Eclectic Stage is Afrobeat powerhouse mexico68. mexico68 pays respect to the originators of Afrobeat by laboring to faithfully execute their original music, while infusing their unique experiences, perspectives, and struggles. They’ll be followed by MAUREEN & THE MERCURY 5 which blends raging Rockabilly, sultry Blues, and toe-tappin’ Swing into a sound for fans of many musical stylists, including Imelda May, Brian Setzer and Amy Winehouse.

The Mission East Stage swings to action with Angel Town Combo, another local favorite that can be heard at The Barkley Restaurant in South Pasadena on some Sundays.

Considered by many to be one of the top guitarists in the world, Gibson Artist and Latin Grammy winning guitarist, vocalist and composer, TWANGUERO (Diego Garcia), invites all kinds of audiences to join him, including guitar fans, entertainment fans, and people of all ages who enjoy great music. His style is an intriguing mix of Flamenco/country/rock/blues/surf music and his “Twang” style, for which he is known all over the world.

These are just a few of the bands and musicians that will be in town for this free, family-friendly Saturday.
