Nearly 100 community members attended the Nov. 21 performance by the New Hollywood String Quartet as part of the 2021-22 Restoration Concerts Series at the Library Community Room. This was the third concert in the series, which is sponsored by the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library.
The quartet comprises Rafael Rishik, Andrew Shulman, Tereza Stanislav and Robert Brophy. The latter two musicians are from South Pasadena. The group performed Antonin Dvorak’s “American Quartet” as well as “Things Unseen” by Jeff Beal, an American composer for film, television (“Monk,” “House of Cards”), recordings and the concert hall. The quartet received a standing ovation.
The NHSQ is performing at the Huntington Library Dec. 17-19 and will return to the South Pasadena Series for a concert on May 22.
Tickets for the remaining concerts in the series are available for $72 until the end of 2021. Individual tickets may be purchased for $20 at the door for the upcoming 2022 concerts on Jan. 16, Feb. 6, March 6, April 10 and May 22.
