The South Pasadena High School varsity girls’ basketball team captured sole possession of its second consecutive Rio Hondo League championship with a 59-50 Rio Hondo League victory at San Marino last Friday.
Freshman Maddy Wong scored a team-high 17 points and sophomore Dylan Tse contributed 12 points in the regular season finale for South Pasadena, which finished with a 9-1 league record (24-2 overall).
South Pasadena hosted Arcadia for the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2A playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. If the Tigers won, they will play either Paramount (18-6 record) or Yucaipa (16-9) in the second round tonight.

South Pasadena suffered its first loss since Nov. 27, 2021, after dropping a league game at Temple City, 49-43, last Wednesday, Feb. 2. Dylan Tse posted 19 points and six rebounds while sophomore Jamie Rain Kim scored eight points.
