Letter to the Editor:

I am writing to urge residents of South Pasadena to attend the Monday night Dec. 4 Planning Commission meeting in the City Council Chambers. Anyone who is concerned about the proposed Domino’s Pizza on Fair Oaks Avenue should attend. In last week’s Review, Harry Lin wrote a reasonable letter pointing out that South Pasadena already has at least six places that serve pizza exclusively and that Domino’s on Arroyo Blvd. is less than 2 miles away.

As South Pasadena upgrades the General Plan/Downtown Specific Plan, questions need to be asked – what do we want Fair Oaks to look like? Do we want a walkable avenue with merchants and businesses like Lucha’s Comfort Footwear, Koi Clothes and Accessories, Ai Japanese Restaurant, Grassroots Natural Market and Kitchen, Union Bakery, Lloyd & Lane•Found Objects, and Cookies & Cream or do we want chains that do not add to the uniqueness of our city? So the question is this: do we need a chain pizza place in  downtown? Please attend Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and be a part of the discussion.
