Valentine’s day is one of the busiest nights for restaurants. But it’s not all about complimentary champagne flutes and the endorphins released by chocolate-dipped strawberries. This talk traces how the yearly ritual speaks to the history of restaurants and the important public venue they have become.  – Patric Kuh

To echo with the romantic theme, the musical program will feature selections about food and love, including Purcell’s “If Music Be The Food of Love” and Bernstein’s “Tonight” from West Side Story.performed by Elizabeth Kerstein (mezzo-soprano), Adrien Redford (baritone) and Irene Gregorio (piano).

Festivities begin at 6pm at Gray Hall on the campus of Oneonta Church, 1515 Garfield, South Pasadena. Advance reservations are required. Tickets are $35 per person, to cover cost of the program, food, and refreshments. On-line registration is available via Eventbrite.com.  For inquiries and reservations, you can also e-mail OneontaRSVP@gmail.com.
