The City Council Feb. 7 joined the California League of Cities in voting unanimously to approve a letter opposing SB 827, more commonly known as the Transit Housing Bill.

If passed, the bill would increase available housing near transit stops and routes by superseding local controls on height limits, maximum density and minimum parking requirements. Director of Planning and Building David Watkins briefed the Council on the piece of legislation introduced by State Senator Scott Wiener on Jan. 3.
