If you’re in need of a haircut and love sports, Sport Clips Haircuts of South Pasadena offers the latest and classic haircuts in a fun setting. Complete with flat screen televisions, lockers and stadium seats, the relaxed environment caters to one’s inner athlete and you’ll leave feeling refreshed and looking great.

Open since 2013, the South Pasadena location was recently purchased in June by Ron Chamberlain, who is an independent area developer in Southern California for Sport Clips. He owns 19 locations throughout California, including the Pasadena Sport Clips on Colorado Boulevard.

“I started this venture back in 2006,” said Chamberlain. “We opened up the first store in Southern California when there weren’t any here at that time. As an Independent Area Developer, I supply the training and support to all 73 stores in our region. I’m also a team leader, which is a franchisee. I work with the store managers and their teams, providing leadership, guidance and support as we work together to achieve our common goals.”

After retiring from the insurance business in 2005, Chamberlain soon found that he missed working. After meeting with Gordon Logan, founder and CEO of Sport Clips, he bought the rights to Southern California and the rest is history.

“When I met with Gordon, he couldn’t emphasize enough the importance of training,” said Chamberlain. “That impressed me very much and is the reason why I became involved with Sport Clips. I wanted to create a great place for our stylists to work, and to train them so that they could provide the best client experience and make a great career for themselves. I love the ability to create new jobs for stylists and an opportunity for them to have a career in a stable and rewarding environment.”

Stylists are required to go through extensive training courses and continually update their education to stay on top of the latest techniques and trends. Sport Clips offers three signature services: Varsity Haircut for $23 (precision haircut), Triple Play for $26 (precision haircut, hot steamed towel wrap and massaging shampoo) and MVP Experience for $28 (precision haircut, hot steamed towel wrap, massaging shampoo and relaxing massage). Beard detailing and complimentary neck trims in-between services are available as well.

Clients also enjoy the different amenities offered at Sport Clips Haircuts of Pasadena, which include heated reclining massage shampoo chairs and ESPN playing on flat screen televisions in the styling station and reception area.

“We have European-style shampoo bowls, where the stylist stands directly behind the client and gives them a full two-minute massage and shampoo,” explained Chamberlain. “Many people doze off because it’s so relaxing. Clients get hooked on the experience and go out the door feeling refreshed. And to top it all off, the entire service is completed within 25 minutes. Guys want to get in and out, then go about the rest of their day. Also, we don’t limit our haircuts to men—we just specialize in men.”

Community involvement and giving back is also important to Sport Clips Haircuts of Pasadena. To support and honor our nation’s heroes, it annually raises funds for the VFW’s Sport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship program, serves as the primary sponsor of the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation and supports the American Red Cross in their efforts to collect life-saving blood and platelet donations.

“Sport Clips Haircuts of Pasadena is a very happy place and you’re going to be greeted as soon as you walk in,” said Chamberlain. “We make it a very easy client experience for our clients. They can check in online via our website or our mobile app, which lets them get in line before they head to the store. Clients can choose their preferred stylist and location, and then we send them a reminder when it’s time for them to head to the store so they can wait where they want. The experience used to start when a person walked in the store, now it starts when they think about getting a haircut. We’re excited to be in South Pasadena. We’re looking forward to adding more great stylists to our team to make sure that all our clients receive the very best MVP client experience they could ever hope for.”
