Creative Writing Program for Kids
July 12 @ 3:30 pm - July 26 @ 4:30 pm
The South Pasadena Public Library will give kids age 9 to 14 a chance to show they’ve got the write stuff.
Starting Friday, July 12, and continuing the next two Fridays, the library has scheduled a “tween” writing camp, with authors Kristen Kittscher, Phoebe Ozuna and Danielle Davis on hand to provide expert advice in their particular genres, helping youngsters tell their own stories creatively.
Sessions will be held on the 12th, 19th and 26th, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Library Community Room, 1115 El Centro St.
Kittscher has authored the mysteries Tiara on the Terrace and The Wig in the Window, and her session will help students write their own mystery stories.
Davis has written Zinnia and the Bees, and she will be teaching students to capture their “whoa” moments.
Ozuna has written six books of poetry and is a founding member of the L.A. Poetry Festival.
Interested students can sign up at www.southpasadenaca.gov/register or contact Children’s Services at (626) 403-7358.
The event is funded by the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library and the South Pasadena Chinese-American Club.
