Curator’s Talk: Frankenstein Dissected

An illustrated talk by exhibition curator Valerie Weich

Tuesday, October 30, 2018 – 7:00 p.m.
Library Community Room

Mary and Percy Shelley jam-packed their famous novel with not-so-hidden references to literature, poetry, mythology, Enlightenment philosophers, alchemy and the occult, and even modern science. Was Frankenstein—with its blasphemous view of creation—intended as part of one big Illuminati conspiracy? Valerie Weich breaks down this endlessly fascinating and multi-layered classic. Fasten your seat belts; it’s going to be a bumpy night! Ages 13 and up.

This program is one of many planned in conjunction with our exhibition Frankenstein Meets Little Women: A Monster Mash. 11 artists have created new work to celebrate the anniversaries of these two literary classics.  The exhibition is open to the public through October 31st during scheduled programs and at the following times: Monday 4-6PM; Wednesday 4-9PM; Thursday 4-9PM; Friday 4-9PM; Saturday 1-5PM; Sunday 1-5PM.
