Tracy Newman; Lucas Last & the Radio Silence – TICKETS
Los Angeles native Tracy Newman started playing guitar at 14 and was hooked. She later left college to become a folksinger. In the early 70s, she joined an improv class taught by Gary Austin, which soon became The Groundlings where she is a founding member. Her sister, Laraine Newman was the first Groundling to be discovered there by Lorne Michaels for Saturday Night Live. It was at the Groundlings that Tracy met her future TV writing partner, Jonathan Stark. They wrote for Cheers, Bob (Newhart), The Nanny, Ellen, and The Drew Carey Show. In 1997, Newman and Stark won an Emmy and Peabody Award for writing the groundbreaking “coming out” episode of Ellen. Tracy has been writing songs all along, many of which were featured in TV shows. Lucas Last is an American songwriter based in Los Angeles. His Virginia roots are clearly present as he weaves between Folk, Americana, and Indie-Rock genres. Characterized by Last’s self-aware lyricism, strong vocal harmonies, and ever-present upbeat feel, he sits comfortably somewhere between Ben Folds and Jason Isbell. The band is currently prepping for their first album release to be followed by a 2019 tour.
