The South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee released its final design May 31 for the 2020 float that will ride in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses (TOR) Parade Jan. 1. The theme is “Victory at Last” and celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This guaranteed the right of women to vote after some 80 years of struggle. Designed by Mike Mera, creator of the city’s 2019 award-winning float, “Three Little Birds,” the parade entry includes a 1920 ballot box and ballots, a scrolled document and pen symbolizing the amendment’s approval and a woman’s hat typical of the 1920s era.
