Eleven members of Girl Scout Troop 3141 in South Pasadena completed their Silver Award projects recently.

Pictured above are Kyra Campbell, Jade Muench and Sarah Chung (left to right), who distributed reusable produce bags and educated people about the problems of plastic waste. They made a small number of bags using sewing machines and bought the rest, but added decorative patches. Aria Argus (not pictured) also took part in the project. The girls researched information about plastic waste and the harmful effects of plastic in the environment, made a website and educational video, and distributed the bags at Bristol Farms and the South Pasadena Farmers Market.

Other projects included:

Dani Pangelinan, Abigail Greene, and Sophie Humby, working with elderly residents and helping beautify the garden at the Alhambra Healthcare and Wellness Center.

Allison Lee, Annette Woo, Josephine Larsen and Hayden Lee, holding a clothing drive and reorganizing the wardrobe closet at Union Station Homeless Services. They also raised funds to purchase new clothes, clothing racks and other equipment.
