Longtime South Pasadena resident Karen Anderson died surrounded by her family on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at her home in Pasadena, her family announced this week. She was 64.
Karen was born April 23, 1955 in St. Paul, Minn., to Harry and Irene (Townsend). She was an activist, legal researcher and loving mother of three. She spent her adult life raising her children and traveling as often as possible (by cruise, preferably). Karen was always most at home in a conversation, insisting, “Tell me everything, start at the beginning.” A graduate of Blair High School and Pasadena City College, Karen’s quest for knowledge never ended.
She enjoyed life in South Pasadena for more than 30 years. During this time she was an active member of the South Pasadena Democratic Club, and all three of her children attended South Pasadena public schools.
She is survived by her children Rigel, Cristina and Liora. Services for Karen will take place this Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. They will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pasadena, 997 East Walnut Street, 91106.
