Laurie Wheeler, president and CEO of the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, is being honored by State Senator Anthony Portantino as one of the Women of Business awardees for 2018, it was announced today. Portantino will present the award at the restaurant, Castaway Burbank, on Tuesday.
Wheeler, who does not seek the spotlight, said she was humbled by the recognition and was aware that “there are so many people that do so much more than me.”
The hard-working Wheeler added, “I am humbled and extremely honored to have been selected by Senator Anthony Portantino as one of the Women in Business 2018 awardees. The women who have been selected all have my utmost respect and admiration. The people that I work with on a daily basis – the Chamber Board, business owners and operators, elected officials and city staff – inspire and energize me and make this job a real joy. To learn that some of these people that I so respect took the time to submit my name as a nominee is a vote of confidence that I will continue to strive to deserve.”
