Ron Koertge, South Pasadena resident, poet and young-adult novelist reading from his just-released book “Olympusville” last Saturday at the 2018 LA Times Festival of Books, on the campus of the University of Southern California. Koertge’s latest publication is described by Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena as a hybrid of poems and illustrations about the antics of Greek gods. His poem “Negative Space” was adapted in an Academy Award-nominated feature for Best Animated Short at this year’s Oscars. “Negative Space” describes how the narrator’s relationship with his father developed through learning to pack a suitcase.
