Having personally been affected by the Mayor’s recent wholesale non-renewal of more than one dozen Commissioners, I read your article on the matter with great interest. Frankly, not being asked to spend countless hours volunteering for city service should come as a relief. However, the manner in which the Mayor undertook the process, in many ways, leaves much to be desired for a community like ours. I was informed by a staff member that the Mayor wanted “new voices.” Having been on my commission for the shortest period of any member, and never having “my voice” solicited by the Mayor, I was surprised the Mayor did not have the courtesy to even notify me personally of her decision.
