South Pasadena Police received a call Friday morning about a car that had crashed into the café at Bristol Farms on Fair Oaks Avenue.

There have been no reports of injuries in the single vehicle accident that occurred around 10 a.m. Friday, according to police.

“We got the call at 10:07 a.m.,” said So Pas Police Sgt. Tony Abdalla. “No one was injured. The SUV went into the cafe section of Bristol Farms.” Abdalla said the café and market at 606 Fair Oaks Ave. were open at the time of the crash.

The driver of the car, an elderly female, apparently had her foot slide off the brake and the grey Lexus sport utility vehicle (SUV) she was driving crashed through the front window of the cafe section of the store.  Abdalla also said the driver was trying to brake as she was attempting to park the SUV and her foot probably slipped off the brake pedal and perhaps onto the gas pedal causing the car to propel forward through the front of the café.

“She was driving at a very low rate of speed (at the time of the crash),” he said. The driver was not arrested or injured.

Work crews were cleaning up the crash site and beginning to replace the front window section of the café Friday afternoon.
