The Woman’s Club of South Pasadena is busy planning this year’s “Operation Cookie” for hospitalized, homeless and special needs veterans. The event, sponsored by the Club, will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at the Clubhouse, 1424 Fremont Avenue.

Seated from left, Woman’s Club members Nancy Andrews and Susie Henry receive cookies from Gypsi Sano of San Gabriel last year.

Club members and community volunteers recently gathered at the Woman’s Club and decorated over 1200 cookie containers. A special label thanking veterans for their military service is placed on the boxes and decorated with a variety of patriotic and colorful stickers, including a signature American flag sticker donated by Trader Joes. The boxes will be filled with cookies for distribution to veterans for Memorial Day.

“Operation Cookie” delivers decorative containers of cookies to Veteran’s Hospitals, homeless veterans’ Centers, the Wounded Warriors Battalion at Camp Pendleton, the organization Military Women in Need, and to other groups serving veterans.
