The South Pasadena Tigers girls varsity tennis team have advanced in the CIF playoffs by beating Hemet High School in the first round, 11-6, in Hemet.
The Tigers easily overpowered Hemet both in singles and doubles matches. The Tigers will now host Garden Grove this Friday in the second round. The match starts at 2 p.m. at South Pasadena High School.
This is the first time in several years that the So Pas girls varsity tennis has advanced into the second round of the CIF playoffs.
Under first year Head Coach Karina Ward, the Tigers are poised to go deeper into the CIF postseason than ever before.
