The following are the standout student-athletes this past year for the girls soccer team. The award list also includes the team’s Grade Point Average (GPA).

Head Coach Tory Lathrop said she was proud of all her players for not only their athletic abilities that took the team into the CIF postseason after being crowned Rio Hondo League champions but their excellent academic prowess as well.

“This is the best example of a student athlete,” Lathrop said. “They played hard and studied hard. I am grateful for their complete contribution. I also want to extend my gratitude to my assistant coaches.”

Lathrop said the team had to scramble near the end of last season to take the championship. They had to beat a very tough Temple City team and they did just that, 1-0. The title was in doubt until the Tigers took the game. They finished the season with a 5-2-1 record.

“I couldn’t be prouder of them,” Lathrop said. “The Tigers are the sole 2019 Rio Hondo champions.”

Lathrop said the team is poised to go even deeper in the CIF postseason next year.

“We are ready,” she said. “We can’t wait until next year. It’s going to be a great season.”
