Work Begins on the EIR for the General Plan/Downtown Specific Plan Update

The General Plan/Downtown Specific Plan Update is nearing another milestone, thanks to the hard work of many members of the community who have attended focus group meetings, the Visioning Charrette, and those who submitted responses to the survey.

On November 8, 2017, the City Council and the Planning Commission held a joint meeting to review the draft documents, and to provide staff with direction to begin the development of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR).  Both bodies approved the use of growth projections and gave the green light to moving forward with the legally-required EIR.

An EIR Scoping meeting will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Community Room.  The meeting will review the process the EIR will go through and will provide an opportunity for the public to weigh in on the scope and content of the EIR.  If you are unable to attend, you can still send in your concerns to  The deadline for submitting comments is 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018.

In the meantime, the public can review and comment on the working drafts portions of General Plan and Downtown Specific Plan at
